Areas of Focus
long-term life plans
Predicting the future is not possible, but you can prepare for the future. Aging looks different for everyone. Understanding your own situation and needs can help you make a specialized long term life plan. Are you currently independent, but have a chronic illness that could be debilitating? Have you talked about end-of-life wishes? Learning about your options can help you create a plan and be more prepared for future events.
Guided family conversations
We believe family and/or friend support can be helpful as an individual makes difficult decisions. We can help guide family discussions to assist individuals and families in making choices for their loved ones.
aging-in-place
Aging in place refers to residing in your current home/apartment. It is important to be comfortable in the environment in which you age and home feels best to most people. Safety is always the number one concern as we begin to age. Do I feel comfortable alone? Am I able to make my own meals? Do I need help with transportation? There are resources available to help individuals stay in their own home. We can educate you about how to do so.
end-of-life preferences
It is never easy to discuss end-of-life wishes, but doing so allows you to express your preferences. Talking to loved ones about your wishes can ease the burden on family and friends. We have experience in navigating sensitive conversations relating to advance directives, POLST forms, and other important topics.
Community Living options
Sometimes staying home is not financially or physically possible. Some homes are not designed for assisted devices, wheelchairs, etc. There are several different living options for seniors. We can help you understand the available options, attend community tours, and help you make an informed decision. We will make it a priority to listen to your individual preferences, budgetary considerations, and long-term housing goals.
speaking engagements
In addition to working directly with clients and families, we are available for speaking engagements and presentations relating to older adults and aging. Potential venues include: professional groups working with the aging, senior health fairs, senior communities and churches. Please contact us to learn more.
